Fire Safety Services

The Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order puts the responsibility of Fire Safety on the owner of the building, or to nominate a responsible person who must be competent. The ultimate method of providing assurance that the fire protection measures within a building are adequate, is to have a third-party inspection by a competent person.

Endeavour Group offers a range of Fire Safety Services to business owners and contractors. We are members of the IFE (Institution of Fire Engineers), our consultants are all independently registered ensuring their knowledge and competence base is first class.

Fire Engineering Project Support

Whatever your needs, our objective is to provide a solution which combines efficiency and flexibility during the building design stages, while also meeting the requirements of Building Regulations Approved Document ‘B’ through the provision of:

  • Fire Engineering Objectives
  • Fire Engineering Support by developing a robust Fire Strategy
  • Fire system design plan reviews, including suppression, fire alarms, and emergency lighting

Fire Engineers are responsible for the fire safety strategy of a project, our work informs the whole design team on fire safety matters. It provides design guidance to architects, advises the building services engineers on what systems are required, such as smoke ventilation, fire dampers, fire detection, smoke alarms, emergency lighting and sprinkler systems, and provides vital information to structural engineers on how long a structure must be protected for and how that is achieved.

Compartmentation Inspections

Following the Fire Risk Assessment, which may only highlight examples of defects in the fire compartmentation – a detailed inspection of the fire related walls, floors and doors on site will still be required.

Endeavour Safety Services are able to offer this service using trained and highly experienced inspectors, with an extensive knowledge of the varied construction products used measuring their installation against industry standards with knowledge of the Building Regulations, Manufacturer’s Installation Specifications and Fire Test Evidence.

Following the installation of any Passive Fire Protection (PFP) or any other fire stopping products, we will inspect the product application and issue an acceptance report post operational delivery. We are able to inspect ongoing works or completed works for compliance. In both cases we can carry out visual and/or destructive tests of the installed fire stopping systems to establish if they are compliant.

All data is collected electronically including images of each defect identified and a fully written report explaining the nature of the deficiency and the recommended remedial action, with, if requested a budgeted cost plan to help manage the expectations of person/s responsible for the costs.

The following disciplines can be inspected by our site inspection team:

  • Penetration Sealing and Fire Stopping

  • Cavity Barriers

  • Fire Rated Partitions Ceiling Systems

  • Fire Rated Ducting & Fire Dampers

  • Structural Fire Protection Boards/ Intumescent Coatings/ Wet Spray

  • Fire Rated Glazing and Screens

  • Timber & Steel & Composite Fire Rated Doorset

Fire Risk Assessment

We will look at the major fire risks to your business and work with you to deliver smart solutions that take away the complexities of today’s fire safety rules and regulations. Endeavour Group Fire Risk Assessors have extensive experience in a wide range premises such as Warehouse’s and Industrial Units, Offices, Garages, Blocks of flats and Retail Shops.

The Fire Risk Assessment will assess the risk to life from fire, it will not assess the risk to property or business continuity, but these will be improved as a result of the recommendations of the finished report. The report will detail significant findings of the assessment and provide information and recommendations to the Responsible Person to allow them to take the action needed.

The assessment will be a non-destructive survey of the common areas including the facilities and features provided to ensure safety in case of fire. Specifically, the assessment will examine:

Fire hazards and their elimination or control – such as electrical, smoking, arson, heating, lightning, general ‘housekeeping’, contractor control and dangerous substances.

Fire protection measures – such as the means of escape, limitation of fire spread and development, emergency escape lighting, fire safety signs and notices, means of giving warning in case of fire and fire extinguishing appliances.

Management of fire safety – Such as procedures and arrangements, safety assistance, training, testing and maintenance of fire safety provisions and relevant records.

We cover various areas including Ormskirk, Southport, Warrington, Birkenhead, Preston, Liverpool, Knowsley, Wirral, Blackburn, Wigan, Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire.

Property Management Support

Frequently Landlords and Property Management Companies will have full inspection records, maintenance and test schedules for the active fire safety equipment on site.

For example, fire / smoke alarms, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers and hose reels etc, however often a full record of the passive protection measures on site does not exist.

In addition to a basic deficiency report Endeavour Safety Services would be able to provide a full asset register of the built-in passive fire protection (where feasible) on site marked onto location plans including:

  • fire-stopping
  • fire doors
  • structural fire protection
  • cavity barriers

For maintenance operatives carrying out essential repairs on fire-stopping and fire doors, we can provide training which leads to a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Associated Industrial Services Occupations – Passive Fire Protection (Construction)
