Overview
The ProQual Level 5 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment is a nationally recognised, Ofqual-regulated qualification designed for professionals undertaking and leading fire risk assessments in high-risk and complex buildings.
Aligned with BS 8674:2025 – Built Environment Framework for Competence of Individual Fire Risk Assessors, this qualification develops advanced technical knowledge, leadership capability, and professional judgement required for senior-level fire risk assessment practice
It prepares candidates to lead assessments, manage complex fire safety challenges, and contribute to strategic fire risk management within regulated environments
Who it’s for
This course is suitable for:
• Experienced fire risk assessors progressing from Level 4
• Senior fire safety practitioners
• Consultants working with high-risk buildings
• Professionals leading fire risk assessments in regulated settings
Learners must:
• Be aged 18+
• Hold the ProQual Level 4 Certificate or have at least five years’ demonstrable occupational experience conducting fire risk assessments
• Have access to appropriate high-risk premises or simulated environments

Qualification Structure
The Level 5 Diploma consists of 4 mandatory unit:
• Undertaking a Fire Risk Assessment for High-Risk Buildings
• Managing the Risk of Fire in High-Risk Buildings
• Advanced Fire Risk Assessment
• Professional Development as an Advanced Fire Risk Assessor
Total Qualification Time: 380 hours / Guided Learning Hours: 260 hours
