The Regal Building in Ormskirk has long stood as a historic landmark.
Situated at 37 Church Street, it is a prominent part of the town’s identity, but its full potential had remained untapped. That changed when Endeavour Group was brought in to support Stockton Properties in a redevelopment project designed to combine historical preservation with modern sustainability and innovative design.
The ambitious plans for the Regal Building aimed to create an exciting mixed-use space, seamlessly blending contemporary student accommodation with commercial units, including a café and retail outlets. This redevelopment required maintaining the charm of the building’s original architecture while addressing modern challenges, including fire safety and sustainable building practices.
Endeavour Group played an instrumental role in the project’s success. The five-storey structure was reimagined with sustainability as a core focus, featuring solar panels on the roof to minimise its environmental impact. Fire safety was integrated throughout, with the student accommodation floors benefiting from compartmentation using fire-resistant materials to meet stringent safety standards.
Advanced fire alarms were installed to BS 5839-1 specifications, ensuring early detection and swift evacuation. Stair cores were carefully positioned to facilitate efficient emergency exits.
The ground floor, housing retail units and a café, presented additional challenges, requiring meticulous planning to address accessibility and safety concerns. Endeavour worked to minimise unprotected areas and implemented fire-stopping measures to reduce risks effectively.
The transformation of the Regal Building demonstrates Endeavour Group’s expertise in balancing technical demands with thoughtful design. By prioritising safety, sustainability, and functionality, the project has delivered a forward-thinking space that honours its historical roots while meeting the needs of Ormskirk’s community.
