Overview

The Level 5 Diploma in Passive Fire Protection (PFP) Inspection is a nationally recognised, Ofqual-regulated qualification designed for professionals responsible for the inspection, monitoring and quality assurance of passive fire protection systems.

The diploma builds advanced competence in assessing compliance across a wide range of PFP measures, including fire-resisting doors, fire stopping, fire-rated ductwork and dampers, intumescent coatings, building control site inspections and construction quality monitoring.

Entry requirements

• A recognised health and safety qualification (e.g. SSSTS, SMSTS, NEBOSH, IOSH Managing Safely) or a fire safety qualification (e.g. Level 3 Award in Fire Safety or higher)

• Inspecting & Testing of Fire-Resisting Door Installations

• Inspecting & Testing of Fire Stopping Installations

• Inspecting & Testing of Fire-Rated Ductwork and Damper Installations

• Inspecting & Testing of Fire-Rated Steel Intumescent Coating Installations

Total Qualification Time (TQT): 400 hours

Guided Learning Hours (GLH): 355 hours

Assessment

This is a competence-based qualification assessed through:

• Written and practical examinations

• Portfolio of evidence (including reports, annotated drawings, project files, CPD logs)

• On-site inspection and monitoring activities

Assessment decisions are internally verified by the training centre and subject to ProQual external quality assurance.

On successful completion, candidates will be awarded the ProQual Level 5 Diploma in Passive Fire Protection Inspection
